Dear Diary…I lol’d at the scale

Wow, what a week!

I rejoined Fit Club this week, a local gym which feels comfortable. Don’t get me wrong, I push myself, but there is something about this place that I love. I cancelled my membership back in the spring, I was getting frustrated because their cleaning standards were dropping and I felt like I needed to change. I was wrong, and I’m glad to be back.

All this nutrition studying has been blowing my mind, I realised there are strategies I used to implement which worked for me. I didn’t understand the science, I just followed, but I also became complacent and I’m happy that this has been a refresher and a wake up call of where my nutrition should be.

After a really focused week, I thought I should step on the scale…to use it as a guide. On Friday morning I stepped on the scale and laughed at myself.

Six pounds? I assumed the scale was broken.

I wondered…

Why did I choose to step on the scale?

What was I expecting?

What had I hoped for?

Did any of this matter?

The reality is that there is absolutely no way this was anything other than six pounds of fluid. It is not possible to lose six pounds of fat in one week.

However it did prove to me that I had made some much needed adjustments with my meals and exercise. I have been honest about the fact that this year was not about my body or my fat loss, it was about self discovery and becoming a coach…full time.

Can’t I have both?

Yes, you can – in fact you can have EVERYTHING you want, but not all at the same time.

What I am starting to learn [in all aspects of my life] is that you must break down your priorities and decide what’s important to YOU.

  • What do you want in life?
  • Where do you see your life heading?
  • What’s important?
  • Who do you want to be?
  • What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

This is the sh*t that needs to be considered, and this is why so many people struggle with change – it requires work, consistency and vulnerability. It requires the ability to admit when you make mistakes, when you become bias. Can you still show up when you know got it wrong?
