Dear Diary…failure is success if we learn from it.

I’m a few days late writing this blog…honestly I didn’t know what to write so I thought it was better to wait, wait around for some inspiration.

Last night, as I was inspiring my clients, I realised I also wanted to take part in a challenge I set them. We were discussing taking action, I asked them to consider just ONE thing that they want to do, but still aren’t doing.

If you were to take action, with this ONE thing, consistently for the next 6 – 12 months, how would your life be different?

I started to get even more passionate as the coaching call went on and I realised I too wanted to take part in this, because as you read in my last post…I am starting to consider my “November Resolutions”.

Even though I’m a coach, and I empower other women to take action – I have to implement the same strategies. I don’t have something that you don’t, I just know how to create a situation that works for me. Honestly the reason I don’t appear to struggle [trust me I do!] is because:

Failure is success if we learn from it.

I no longer feel like a failure. I no longer feel confused because I know I am completely in control of the outcome. Every choice is my own, and I own all of them, every single one.

I started to think about what I am struggling to do consistently, what’s taking up more of my mental energy on a weekly basis? Which area of my health should I be taking small steps with and create consistency over the next 6 – 12 months?

Movement.

I feel like this has been a struggle for most of this year, but more so since the summer. It’s not so much about creating routine, or not having time, but rather about doing my best to implement it on a weekly basis.

Taking my own advice, I took a step back, and I went back to the goal I set myself just twelve months ago – workout three times per week. It’s very easy for me to feel like three isn’t enough, that I should be doing more.

When consistency is the goal, the number is irrelevant, instead it’s about taking action and showing up – every single week.

I often hear women say “I should be doing this….” we “should” all over ourselves everyday. Doing something consistently for 6 – 12 months is amazing, choosing just ONE thing and implementing it, taking action repeatedly and improving – isn’t that the point?

Won’t it feel great to know you stuck to something, just ONE thing for 1/2 the year throughout holidays, weekends, parties, the good days AND the bad days? Won’t it feel awesome to know you chose to take action consistently for longer than most diets last?

So, as I started to consider what I need to draw my attention to and implement consistently for the next 6 months I started to think what would be different?

  • I will lose fat
  • I will gain muscle
  • I will feel stronger
  • I will feel accomplished
  • I will show up
  • I will feel more confident
  • I will feel healthier
  • I will more capable
  • I will have broken through a barrier
  • I will make more time for myself

I’m sure this list could continue, but honestly aren’t these enough reasons? Six months feels like a long time, but six months is comparatively short to how long I’ve been alive. I think too often we get caught up in the length of time something *might* take and are then put off by starting, yet if we don’t do it – those six months are still going to pass.

Time will still continue whether I implement a change or not.

May 2017 will happen whether I make the choice or not.

Wouldn’t it be nice to commit, and see what happens? See where the next six months take you? Find out what YOU can accomplish in a fairly short space of time.

I challenge you:

To take action, with just ONE thing, consistently for the next 6 – 12 months. How would your life be different?
