I just completed my final webinar of 2016 with my group coaching clients, and it was a complete recap on everything we’d covered during our 90 days together.
We were all surprised by how much we’d covered in just three months.
As I clicked through the slides, I thought about how much my clients accomplish in a short space of time and of course what happens next. As their coach I want to help them get to a place where they can do this for themselves. A place where they live their life, and feel comfortable and confident in their skin.
You don’t need a qualification to understand your own body.
What I’ve discovered is that no amount of reading and listening can replace taking action, and you need to believe that you can eat and live in a way which feels effortless. Whilst it’s about what you weigh, and what you eat…it also isn’t about either of these things.
We feel angry that our body doesn’t “work”, we feel frustrated that it’s not easy, but I believe this is because we are working against our bodies instead of working with them. If you love something you treat it with kindness, you take care of it and protect it.
In module two of Lose Love Learn, we discussed self care at length because who else is going to look after your body if you don’t?
A fat loss lifestyle is not just about fat loss, it’s transformative. It changes your perspective, you discover how to truly take care of your body with the most basic acts of kindness. You find yourself becoming more aware of your actions, and letting go of the bullshit that has held you back for most of your life.
This lifestyle allows you live the life you deserve.
Women ask me “how do you stay motivated?” and the reality is that my motivation has adapted since 2010. My original goal was only about my size, I didn’t have a goal weight when I started a diet in May 2010 – I just kept moving the goal posts as I made progress. I didn’t consider my health a part of the process, I just wanted to feel good on my wedding day.
Six years on and mortality is a very real part of my life, losing my dad when I was just sixteen and now having a son whom I adore means that I want to be around for as long as possible. I want to be the healthiest mother, wife and human I can be, and be a healthy influence on my child.
I’m no longer worried about my pant size, I’ll find pants! I’m more bothered about how I feel on a daily basis.
I understand how confusing this message can seem:
“but if I lose weight I will be healthier…”
That’s true you will be healthier, but it’s not about the process of weight loss, it’s about every single day you have to live, once you’ve reached your goal weight. Setting a weight related goal and achieving it isn’t something to ignore, it required hard work and consistency and I would never take that away from anyone. It’s not about what you weigh, it’s about the process you took to get there and whether you truly feel like you can live this lifestyle for the rest of your life.
Ask yourself these questions:
What does my health mean to me?
What does my weight mean to me?
Why do I feel that losing weight will change my life?
